Written submission by Devon Pelley

Devon Pelley, friend of the Continuist, is a 1st year Ryerson arts student. He’s mainly a guitarist, as well as a lyricist – so check out a poem he wrote below! Neat.

Dry Your Tears, Child

Quiet now child, the world is dark
There will be no more pain for you
Embrace your sleep with open arms
And do not cry again tonightThe things you hear will disappear
Nobody will be able to harm you
Take whatever you can from me
And do not cry again tonight

You know now child, she loves you
Waiting an eternety for your arrival
Close your eyes and rest your head
And do not cry again tonight

Let this not be the end now, child
Shine on throughout the dimming night
Let your tears glisten like morning dew
And do not cry again tonight

Dry those tears now child, and sleep
For a new day awaits tomorrow
One filled with peaceful beginnings
So do not cry again tonight…
