As the fourth installment in our Q&A series, The Continuist has interviewed artist Catherine Hennessey. Catherine works primarily with watercolours.
What do you do for a living?
At the moment I have a 7 month term at Scotiabank as a student analyst.
What’s your favourite part of what you do?
Power-walking to meetings and writing successful “if” statements in Excel.
Having to keep a “natural” hair colour. Maintaining consciousness.
How has your style and work changed over the years?
I aim to focus less on over-all effect and reward and more on precision and detail quality, whether I’ve managed to achieve that.
What’s your preferred medium and why?
Watercolours, they produce depth in a way no other medium can and with such ethereal beauty; layers and layers of coloured glass.
Is there other related creative work that you do? If so, what is it?
I’ve been hired as an illustrator for a science-fiction book series. (if that counts.)
