Photo Set – “Revival” by Kylie Coleen Tan

Kylie Coleen Tan, a first time submitter and first-year student in Ryerson’s English program, has sent us this moving photo set entitled “Revival” from her travels. Here’s a note from Coleen Tan herself:

Little known fact about me: I haven’t returned to my abode in 18 years. Upon my return, this is what I’ve encountered. A different view on the world when you see different perspectives of life. Appreciation, sadness and hope, these are wondrous feelings. Everyone has a story, though we may never know what that story is. I visited 6 regions of the Philippines, as well as Singapore and Malaysia. I could not have asked for anything better. In terms of photography, I’ve always had more appreciation towards the dark, sheltered and the blurred. In other words, old film and documentation. Modern photography is expected to be clean and crisp… this explains my unemployment.
