The Continuist has some exciting plans as we head into the New Year, and we’re looking for submissions. We’ll be releasing two zines in the next two months, and we want to showcase as much talent as possible.

Feminism is not the F-Word: Awareness and Charity Event

Local GTA musician Mike Zbikowski of Man Simply Is is hosting an awareness and charity event at the Smiling Buddha on January 25th centred around feminism. It will feature artists, musicians, poets and speakers, all brought together to create a dialogue around what feminism means today for both females and males alike. The cover is $5, with 50% of proceeds going to the YWCA Toronto, the other 50% going towards the artists.

In support of this event, The Continuist will be putting together a zine to create further dialogue around feminism and support for the YWCA Toronto. We are thus looking for pieces of all mediums focused around this topic. Just send us an e-mail at thecontinuist@gmail.com with the Subject title as “Feminism is not the F-Word” and your submission will be considered. The deadline for submissions is January 9th, so get those pieces in! Make sure to RSVP and learn more about this event here.

Perfect Bound Zine

Over the Winter break, The Continuist has been compiling the submissions we’ve had over the past year to prepare for our perfect bound zine. However, it’s not too late to send in your work! For this zine, we’re looking for the best of the best of your writing, photography, graphic design, visual experimentations and artwork, so make sure to shoot us an e-mail at thecontinuist@gmail.com. Make sure to have your pieces in for January 9th in order for them to be considered for the zine.
