Poetry Submission by Paul Harper

Ryerson English major Paul Harper is back with a new poem that seamlessly blends relationship domesticity with drug dependency that is less than voluntary. Check it out below.

Pills Romanticized

Pampered calmly as summer breeze made
Way through balcony bars and
Swam up bottom of my pants

Brought me back to that moment when you said:
Come to terms with agreement of your flesh
Contract signed fresh out of womb with
Umbilical cord

Sun-kissed room talked of abstract things
Hid behind clock until dust
Was seen caravanning the air

Knew what ruthless quantified menace lurked
Just around the corner
Caplets just to keep up from day to day
While the others in the apartment building spoke

Pills Romanticized
